My mum has end stage copd and they have now found a shadow on her left lung?

We found out in january that my mum was end stage COPD, she has just been admitted again for a chest infection and the xray showed a shadow on her left lung we are still waiting for a CT scan to be done, no one is saying much anyone could you help
